In the morning of the date of 30 Jul 2022, in Lai Chau province, the opening ceremony of tunnel route at Nam Lum 1 Hydropower Project has been organized in the excitation of SCI’s employees. This is the result of unstoppable efforts of all technical employees, workers as well as the Board of Project Management of Nam Lum 1 HEP after nearly 1 year of construction.
The tunnel route is constructed from the Main Dam to Powerhouse, which is located in Dao San commune, Phong Tho district (Lai Chau Province) through several geological horizons including IB and IIA with its diameter as 3m and its average slope as 8%. There are two tunnel sections recorded in which one section is at ela. 978.7m at the Main Dam area and another section is at ela. 822.6m at Powerhouse area. Among the hydropower projects which are executed by SCI, the tunnel of Nam Lum 1 is considered as the top in term of slope.
According to Mr Vu Duc Trong – an engineer of the Project: "In the condition of high slope as well as the centerline subjects to change, the strict requirements in controlling of survey work as well as tunnel section calculation should be arranged."
To achieve timely of tunneling works, more than 40 workers are arranged and distributed in 3 shifts per day with 24/24h working continuously. Mr Dinh Tuan – the Project Manager of Nam Lum 1 HEP said: "The team of our employees including officers, engineers and workers have been working day and night with a lot of renovate facilities, machinery system to complete excavating from 110m to 150m on average per month. After opening tunnel route, we have invited experts of the supervision consultant as well as the design consultant to coordinate with several geologists for the purpose of investigating, surveying and re-checking all route to propose permanent protection solutions."
In the consecutive stage of construction, it is confirmed that all resources shall be concentrated to complete the remaining works such as: tunnel outer surface protection, rock trap, penstock till Powerhouse and auxiliary tunnel niche filling to ensure the matching of technical requirements, quality control as well as the approved design and construction methods. It is expected that Nam Lum 1 Hydropower Project shall be put in commercial operation in October this year.
