In the morning of 2nd March 2024, the river compartment and flow diversion ceremony was organized by Nam Mo 2 Hydropower Project, a significant event marking the first stage completion of the spillway. Such result gained thanks to the solidarity spirit and the constant efforts of the Project Management Board, technicians, workers and the subcontractors so far.
After launching the “60 day & night campaign for the first stage completion of river blockage & diversion”, SCI E&C JSC- with the role ofEPC Contractor has finished reinforcement of the 160,13m-long diversion tunnel, th excavation of the spillway foundation pit, the stilling pool and the spilling downstream with the total volume of soil and rock up to 526.000 m3, the installation of diversion tunnel inlet and other project sections to assure the flow diversion in the 2024 dry season.
River compartment & diversion is considered as a technically complicated step with high requirement on the accuracy of construction and progress to secure the implementation of the dam. Success from this river compartment shall direct the flow into the diversion tunnel to create favorable condition for the project subsequent items.
With the target of completing main dam before the 2024 flood season, the Project Management Board has launched “100 day & night dam embankment campaign to control flood” started from 10/03/2024 that aims to complete the 1st stage of the dam to reach flood control elevation of el.1295.0 on 15/06/2024 with targeted embankment capacity of 70.000m3/month in parralel with a commitment to ensure the working safety and the project quality. This campaign is assessed as a big challenge requiring high determination and close cooperation from all related parties.
In addition to focusing on the main dam embankment, construction of other project items is also expedited to ensure the targeted progress.
