The day when the workers commenced pouring concrete for the last tower foundation at Huong Linh 4 project, it rained heavily all night long and drizzled until morning, causing them to start their shift later than usual. At 9:00 am, our team followed the shift van to the W10X turbine tower - the last tower in the Huong Linh 4 project.
Quang Tri is presently in the rainy season, the wind tower location is tens kilometres away from the camp, the assess road is winding and sinuous. The all-night heavy rain makes the road slippery. Mr. Dang Van Hoa - A grader driver said: "This road has some extremely slopping areas, sometimes, the whole team of dozens of brothers have to go down and push the van up, be tired but happy."
After more than 30 minutes of movement, the van reached the point of concrete placement, the large tower requires up to 800 cubic concrete blocks, so the number of workers and drivers reach nearly up to 30 people working day and night. The concrete trucks, boom pumps, static pumps, all kinds of machines were ready in place and workers quickly started their work.
Mr. Dao Cong Phu shared with us: "All machines have the backup plan in case of being unfortunately broken, the repairmen are always on duty while pouring concrete to be ready to fix the problem at place."
Huong Linh 4 project is one of the SCI’s numerous projects executed during the tense period of Covid-19 epidemic across the country. However, SCI has well taken the epidemic prevention and control measures, so almost no impact was exerted on human resources during the project period. Sharing the Covid prevention period at the project, Mr. Hoa recalled: "Last year, the stressful epidemic situation plus the strings like tight project progress to be completed before October 31, 202, so the brothers did not come home all year. During the many years working at SCI, it was the most memorable time for each of us”.
The concrete trucks are moved from the batching plant to the pouring point in continuously to keep up with the two days and night schedule of concrete pouring. Before hand-over, the tower is maintained, watered for 1 week. The supervisors and consultants will closely monitor the quality of the works during that time and hand it over to the Owner when the works reach the best quality.
Mr. Pham Xuan Duong - Project Manager said: "After this last tower is completed, the brother workers have time to visit their family for a few days and then continue joining other projects as assigned. Some people go to Nam Sam 3, others go to Nam Mo 2, both of them are big projects in need of more human resources. Although they have only been together for a short time, they still consider each other like the family members in one house with a very emotional life."
At 11:30, the shift van transports the prepared lunch boxes from the kitchen to the construction site. On such sprint days, everyone has a quick meal of hot rice during their lunch break to continue their work. On the sunburn faces of the workers in Quang Tri's sunny and windy condition, they always have a bright smile, the jokes between the mountains and forests seem to dispel all the fatigue of the day.
Our team got in the car to leave when the worker brothers finished their lunch break and returned to the hustle and bustle speed of the concrete pouring. This special day helps me understand that, for each SCI member here, every project is their youth and love for the heroic land. Finishing the project in Quang Tri, they continue to set out to build the new renewable energy projects in the new lands.
