GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY OF TRI AN HYDROPOWER PLANT EXPANSION

On the morning of August 19, 2025, in Tri An commune, Dong Nai province, the groundbreaking ceremony of the expanded Tri An Hydropower Plant was held. This is one of 250 projects and works commenced and inaugrated by the Government at 80 locations nationwide to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

Attending the ceremony were Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Ms. Phan Thi Thang - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade. Representing Đong Nai Province were Mr. Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee. From EVN’s leadership were Mr. Cao Quang Quynh - Member of the Board of Directors, and Mr. Pham Hong Phuong - EVN’s Vice President. The groundbreaking ceremony was also attended by partners, banks, credit institutions and the consortium of 6 contractors: Lung Lo Construction Corporation - Leading member of the consortium; Song Da Corporation - JSC; SCI E&C JSC; Construction JSC 47; Truong Son Construction Corporation and LILAMA 10 JSC.

The Trị An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project, located in Tri An Commune (formerly Hieu Liem Commune, Vinh Cuu District), Dong Nai Province. The Project has been approved by the Prime Minister under the National Power Development Plan for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. The project is invested in by EVN and directly managed by the Power Project Management Board 3 (EVNPMB3). The project has a total investment of nearly VND 4,000 billion, with an installed capacity of 200MW (2 units, each with a capacity of 100MW). Major works include: intake canal, intake structure, penstock, powerhouse, tailrace channel, and access road. As planned schedule, nit 1 is expected to generate power in Q3/2027, Unit 2 in Q4/2027, with the work’s full completion in Q4/2027.

Once in operation, the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project will averagely annual generate about 113 million kWh, enhance capacity mobilization capability for the Southern region load, particularly during peak hours; reduce overall generation costs, maximize water flow utilization, contribute to CO₂ emission reduction, extend the lifespan of the equipment.

At the ceromony, the investor and the consortium of the contractors expressed their strong determination in implementing the project, affirming their commitment to strictly adhere to the approved schedule, ensure occupational safety, and maintain construction quality. All parties pledged to mobilize adequate resources, manpower, and modern equipment to accelerate the progess and bring the Projet into operation promptly, thereby contributing to the local socio-economic development.
